🐾About Rookery Lodge🐾

Our Routine

We will ask for lots of information on your dog (the booking form) and we will try to keep their routine as close to their normal one, regarding mealtimes etc. Dogs will be walked off site daily (with owners permission) and will receive other forms of enrichment during the day.

We can tailor our routine to accommodate your dog, for example a puppy on 3 meals a day, a dog on medication or needing to rest due to injury or being a golden oldie. We have various rooms the dogs can use, so if they need space or a quieter place, there is a somewhere for them to go. Our care is structured, we do not allow multiple dogs to run around all day doing their own thing. We do not want to encourage unwanted behaviours by allowing the dogs to be ‘self-employed!’

Enrichment plan

We want to give our guests the best possible experience whilst staying at Rookery Lodge.

Our aim is for the dogs in our care to have a fun experience and we are dedicated to providing each dog in our care with an enrichment plan. This will be agreed with the owner in advance of their stay.

As well as regular exercise it is important for dogs to partake in activities that are good for their wellbeing and this can include periods of basic obedience training, sits stays etc. and games.

Subject to the owner’s approval, dogs will be provided with sniffing games, food puzzles, i.e. stuffed Kong, Kong Wobbler and Gyro to name a few. Sniffing games will be encouraged where we play hide and seek with food. The food used will be taken from the dog’s daily allowance to ensure that there is no weight gain.

Dog safe chews will be provided, subject to owner’s approval.

We aim to give each dog a minimum of one daily 1-2-1 activity, for a minimum of 20 minutes in addition to their usual exercise regime.
